The ring mechanism comprises clamps fixed on plate rails fitted in sprung plate protection. The clamps work in pairs, and the mechanism can be opened to a position where the plate rails move towards the plate protection. The clamp free ends (25,26) are machined so that their thickness is half that of the remaining material. The machined end pieces are inclined on their outer edges (31,32) to provide a stop function. When the mechanism is closed, the end pieces overlap, and are stopped by the self-locking inclined surfaces.
