The claim refers to a sliver blocking mechanism at the drafting mechanism of a spinning frame. The incoming sliver (14) has a slight-sensitive stop motion (29) which switches in a blocking member (16) between a pair of input rollers (8,11) when the sliver (14) breaks. In the section between the sliver stop motion (29) and this blocking point (15) is a sliver clamp (30) which can, together with the blocking member (16), into blocking or release positions. Between the input rollers (8,11) and the clamping points (7,10) of the drafting system is a sliver support (26) which keeps the fibre tuft aligned when the sliver (14) is blocked. There is no need to raise the arm (3) carrying the double upper rollers.
