The photodegradability of ethylene polymer (other than ethylene/carbon monoxide polymers) is enhanced by use of a photodegrading agent comprising a photosensitizing material and an ethylene/carbon monoxide polymer. Preferably, the photosensitizing material is a heavy metal dithicarbamate or a heavy metal dithiophosphate, the heavy metal having an atomic number greater than 21 exclusive of metals of Groups 1A, 2A and 3B of Mendeleeff's Periodic Table. The most preferred photosensitizing agent is tris (N,N-di-n-butyldithiocarbamato)iron (III).
