Improvements which include devices for producing axial cuts and peripheral cuts in the surfaces of the onions, the first ones consisting of blades mounted in half- moulds or on articulated arms and which rise in a direction perpendicular to the direction of displacement of the onions, and the second ones consisting of blades mounted on arms which can be brought closer to the onions and which run parallel to the direction of displacement of said onions.
