Starting with sheets of steel of the order of 6 mm thickness, the punch 14 and the former 17, which form part of the die and define the shape of the piece to be obtained, are cut using a laser beam. A series of threaded holes 20 and 22 in the punch-carrier plate 12 and in the base 16 allow the punch and the former to be secured and these can be replaced when the need to stamp another type of piece requires this. Advantages: possibility of constructing punches and formers for stamping pieces of complex shape speed of design and machining. A digital control program takes into account factors such as the clearance between punch and former and the exit angle of the former.
