The cpds. of formula (II), in which R1 is OH opt. protected, R3 is methyl, ethyl, propyl or allyl, and n is 1 or 2, with immuno-suppresive and anti-microbial activity, for preventing resistance to transplants, treatment of auto-immune illnesses, infections, etc., are made by reaction of a cpd. of formula (I) in which R2 is an eliminable gp., with an organic or inorganic base, e.g an alkali or alkaline earth hydroxide, carbonate or bicarbonate, an alkali metal alkanoate, alkylamine, pyridine or quinoline cpd. or silimar, in a suitable solvent.
