PREPARATION OF MONOLITHIC CATALYSTSUPPORT STRUCTURES HAVING AN INTEGRATEDHIGH SURFACE AREA PHASEAbstractA method of forming a monolithic ceramic catalystsupport having a high surface area phase of porous oxideembedded within the monolith structure is provided. The porousoxide phase is incorporated into a sinterable ceramic structureas a discrete discontinuous phase. The high surface areanecessary for effective catalyst support is thereby providedwithin the ceramic structure, which is sintered to provideappreciable density and strength.
