Abstract:The invention concerns a recombinant plasmid providedwith Hepatitis B virus gene, which comprises a plasmidvector containing a yeast gene and an E. coli gene andcarrying the expression control region of the repressibleacid phosphatase gene of yeast and a Hepatitis B virus generecombined therewith under control of the phosphatasepromoter. The invention also provides a transformed yeastwhich is prepared by transforming a yeast with the recombinantplasmid, and a method of producing Hepatitis B virus surfaceantigen on a large scale by culturing the transformed yeastin a medium. The Hepatitis B virus surface antigen preparedby the present invention has the same immunologicalproperties as those of the natural antigen from human bloodplasma and is useful for the preparation of Hepatitis B virusvaccine and diagnostic reagents.
