ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREMethod for the production of high cis content1,5,9-tetradecatriene is provided which comprises disproportionating1,5-cyclooctadiene and 1-hexene in the presence of a catalyst consistingessentially of molybdenum oxide on a high purity, high surface area, highpore volume silica support. The resulting high cis content1,5,9-tetradeca-triene is a useful precursor for the preparation ofgossyplure, a known insect sex attractant.
