CONFIGURABLE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT HAVING CONFIGURABLE LOGIC ELEMENTS AND CONFIGURABLE INTERCONNECTS

ABSTRACTA configurable logic array comprises a plurality ofconfigurable logic elements variably interconnected in response tocontrol signals to perform a selected logic function. Eachconfigurable logic element in the array is in itself capable ofperforming any one of a plurality of logic functions dependingupon the control information placed in the configurable logicelement. Each configurable logic element can have its functionvaried even after it is installed in a system by changing thecontrol information placed in that element. Structure is providedfor storing control information and providing access to the storedcontrol information to allow each configurable logic element to beproperly configured prior to the initiation of operation of thesystem of which the array is a part. Novel interconnectionstructures are provided to facilitate the configuring of eachlogic element.
