ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA method for measuring vibrational stressesand velocities of waves propagated within formationssurrounding a wellbore essentially consists in simul-taneously measuring the vibrational stress and vibra-tional velocity produced by propagation of the vibrationwithin the medium, then in establishing a ratio of magni-tudes relating to the vibrational stress and velocity inrespect of one and the same measuring point. The methodand device provided by the invention also find applica-tions in the separation of different types of secondarywaves generated during propagation of a primary wavein a medium.
