PROCESS FOR REPAIRING DEFECTIVE STRING-SHAPED ELASTOMER/FOAM SEALS

A process is disclosed for repairing defective string-shaped elastomer/foam seals, in particular on hatchway covers of ships. After a long use, such seals show permanent deformations in the shape of a depression, a groove or the like. Such depressions are filled with a bead arranged on an appropriate support. Both bead and support are glued on the seal. The bead is produced in such a way that its dimensions correspond approximately to the dimensions of the depression in the defective seal.
