LIFTING ANCHORS AND CLUTCHES FOR LIFTING ANCHORS

A lifting anchor to be embedded into a concrete component during casting in order to provide a lifting point comprises a head with an eye (38) for receiving a bolt (14) of a clutch which is attached to a lifting cable. The head of the anchor has laterally projecting shoulders (36) which are engaged by downwardly facing abutment surfaces (32) on the clutch body when the body rotates during lifting. The engagement of one or other of the surfaces (32) on the clutch body with the adjacent shoulder (36) on the anchor prevents excessive rotation of the clutch body which could results in spalling of the surrounding concrete.
