an absorption body, used particularly in cases of urinary incontinence in women is a core (1) consisting of a highly absorbent material, the core being surrounded wholly or partially by one or more layers of absorbent material.in order to fully absorb and with a high degree of certainty, the urine coming in the form of a fast flow, the core is constituted in combination in the form of a three-dimensional fibrous network in which a stable, highly absorbent granular material, e.g. a cross-linked polymer prepared from a methacrylic monomer, is distributed in a uniform manner.the core (1) is provided with several deep channels (2), preferably straight, facing the source of fluid to be absorbed. the channels (2) have been drilled or cut in the core (1) with a width of at least 4 mm and 4 mm, leaving a strip of core material between two adjacent channels (2).the absorption capacity may be increased by adding another layer of absorbing material, for example of the same type as the material of the core, on the side opposite to the source of fluid.
