A loading device for the orderly, complete filling of a container (B) with rods (BR11,BR12...) consists of three slides (S1,S2,S3). These slides engage into the inside of the container by means of opposite openings (A1,A2). At their fronts, the slides possess troughs (MS11,MS12,MS13...) having intermediate supporting teeth (ZS11,ZS12,ZS13...). The slides serve at the same time for the orderly presetting of the positions of the rods to be loaded into the container and permit a complete filling, which is secure against slipping, of the container with rods in the hexagonally most compact array. In this regard, a first slide (S1) presets the positions of the rods in a first row (R1) while the remaining slides (S2, S3) for introducing the remaining rows of rods (R2,R3...) are alternately withdrawn from a waiting position into a loading position. …IMAGE…
