According to the invention, control signals (Uα) are also supplied to the reversing converter (4) if there is an overcurrent message when the reversing converter (4) is reversed. A method is thus obtained with which the reversing converter (4) of the voltage intermediate circuit converter (2) is protected against inverter tipping.
