The invention relates to an installation and apparatus for heating and for producing hot water for domestic use, using a heat transfer fluid, with distribution by individual premises from a communal heating system which comprises, for each individual set of premises to be heated, at least one inlet duct (201) and one return duct (202) forming a circuit referred to as the primary circuit, said ducts being connected to inlet (209) and outlet (210) pipes respectively of the heating circuit of said premises. An installation according to the invention is noteworthy in that it comprises a thermal consumption meter (204), while a circuit for heating water for domestic use is connected to the heating circuit of the premises, these two circuits forming a circuit referred to as the secondary circuit, the entire system being such that said meter permits the metering of the calories utilised by the entire secondary circuit. Advantageously, the circuit for heating water for domestic use comprises a water reservoir (214), for water for domestic use, enclosed by a jacket (219) for the circulation of the heat transfer fluid which also serves as container for mixing between the primary and secondary circuits.
