The invention relates to a method of measuring the size and/or charge and/or velocity and/or concentration of particles in polydisperse systems and of measuring particle concentrations in monodisperse aerosols, and also to an apparatus for carrying out the method. The particle flow is fed through at least one active ring sensor or past a point sensor. The charge induced in the sensor by each particle is fed to an active charge amplifier. The output signal of the amplifier is used as the input signal for a measured value display unit. The amplifier forms part of a measured value evaluation circuit which comprises at least a capacitor, an ohmic resistor and the amplifier and is built into the sensor system near to the sensor.
