The swashplate compressor comprises a housing, intake and outlet chambers, and a cylinder block bored round a drive shaft for reciprocating pistons. The swashplate chamber in the crankcase connects to the bores and has a drive plate which rotates with the shaft at varibale angles and mounts the swashplate, coupled to the individual bore pistons. The swashplate is linked to intake and outlet chambers by two valved passages. The first valve (29) has regulators, which move the valve, depending on intake chamber (6) pressure into a first setting to open the first passage, when the chamber pressure exceeds a preset value. The second valve (41) is adjustable and controls the section of a connecting passage (28) part, and is moved by regulators, when the swashplate chamber (13) pressure rises above a second preset pressure.
