The device having simple structure, is used for automatically setting the focal length according to the distance from lens to the object by plural steps. The device has a lens moving means (1) for changing focal length by lens barrel (6), driven by tilting cam (2) of cam ring (3); long/short distance stopping means (16)(17) for limiting the rotation of the cam ring; a solenoid body (24) for driving the short-distance stopping means in order to minimize the rotation range of the ring (3) by automatic range meter.
