Measuring equipment for analysis of measured distribution functions - defines particle population in mixt. from comparison of matched synthetic and measured component distribution functions only
Measuring equipment for analysis of measured distribution functions - defines particle population in mixt. from comparison of matched synthetic and measured component distribution functions only
A first unit forms synthetic distribution functions from those of two or more populations of which at least one component distribution function stems from a previously known population. A second unit matches the thus-formed synthetic distribution function to a measured one, and a third unit compares the two functions and produced a difference picture for definition of a population which is not directly measurable. In an exemplary histogram, peaks corresp. to max. leucocyte and granulocyte populations are sepd. by a trough for adaptive thresholding. USE/ADVANTAGE - In particle analysis (e.g. white blood corpuscle counting ) with electrical, optical or mechanical measurements. Component distribution functions of single populations can be found for particle mixts. with multimodal histograms which cannot be entirely or reliably determined by threshold methods.
