Glass fibre boat hull prod. without mould - using plastic planks of closed-cell plastic foam clipped to bulk head and rib, with outer layer of fibre-reinforced polyester or epoxy resin
A boat's hull is produced from plastic planks by assembling the bulkheads and ribs and by applying to them the planks which are made of homogeneous closed-cell plastic foam with a density of 450-800 kg/cu.m and 5-15mm thick. These planks receive layers of fibre-reinforced polyester or epoxy resin. The planks (2) are made of close-cell PVC foam and their lining (3) consists of fibre reinforced polyester or epoxy resin. Any required fittings (1) are also made of plastic material and incorporated in the line of planks. The fibre reinforcement can be based on glass, plastic or carbon fibres in the form of woven tissue, felt or mats. ADVANTAGE - This produces a glass fibre boat without the necessity of costly moulds.
