Tiered beams or girders, with flexible material stretched over them, are connected by belts or chains, and moved into an opening or closing position by outside drive units, in a door for closing large openings in industrial layouts. Raising and lowering of the unit is effected by a series of independently operating electric cable cords, with a shared spindle to compensate for different revolution rates. Belts bearing the beams are held at such an interval that parts of the stretched material cannot be clamped into the resultant spaces, and the bottom beams act in conjunction with stabiliser devices. These may be box-shaped components, acting in conjunction with guiderails. This can be very tall and wide, with no risk to the stretched covering during raising and lowering, and no need for floor anchorage.
