The textile sheet folding machine for bed linen, towels etc. has a horizontal surface with two belt conveyors near the centre, between two wider outer belt conveyors. These are operated to advance a sheet, step it and return it. Between each inner and outer conveyor belt is a perforated strip connected to a suction source. Between each strip and its adjacent inner belt is a line of suction slots. The perforated strips are hinged parallel to the direction of travel of the sheets from end to end. Inside the structure carrying these members, are lifting members fitted with combs which swing at right angles to the direction of travel, acting in opposite directions, operated in sequence by a control system. A further stopping and positioning system controls the advance of the sheet.
