METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SOCKETS FOR AMPUTATED-LIMB STUMPS

An internal funnel 1 for housing a stump 17 of an amputated limb and which is joined to a prosthesis may be fitted, in the following steps of the process, directly to the stump 17 without the assistance of moulding: - for moulding the inner funnel, a synthetic material is chosen which is capable of contracting under the effect of external influences; - a tube 14 of this synthetic material, which is open along at least one side, with a smaller diameter and shorter length than the funnel 1 to be manufactured, is widened and stretched so that, in all directions, it has a greater size than the inner funnel 1 to be manufactured; - the widened and stretched moulded piece 10 is placed over the stump 17 and is made to contract by means of the effect of external influences until the inner funnel 1 matches the stump 17 on all sides securely.
