It is intended to provide a device, which can be most simply constructed and can be automated, for the contactless surveying of objects, in order to increase the speed and the accuracy of the surveying. For this purpose, automatically pivotable optical deflection means (14, 16) are provided, which are arranged between a light source (10) and the object to be surveyed (24) and between the object to be surveyed (24) and light-detecting means (12). The first deflection means (14) pass the light from the light source (10) to a point (26) on the object (24). The second deflection means (16) pass the light reflected from the point (26) on the object (24) in this direction onto the light-detecting means (12). The position of the point (26) is determined by means of triangulation. Subsequently, the deflection means (14, 16) are pivoted and a sufficient number of points on the object (24) are detected in the same way. IMAGE
