The invention relates to a gearing, particularly for a windscreen wiper system on motor vehicles. The gearing has a rotating crank, a rack articulated on the crank, a rotatably mounted pinion with which the rack meshes and a guide which is pressed against the rack by spring means and holds the rack and the pinion in engagement, at least radially. In a gearing of this type, the backlash between the rack and the pinion is to be largely eliminated, by simple means and without significant losses in efficiency. This is achieved by virtue of the fact that the guide has at least one roller, this roller resting resiliently against the rack.
