Said reactor is suitable in particular for desulphurising exhaust gases and/or for removing nitrogen from said gases. Guide slats and pre-slats are provided on the entry and/or exit side of the gas in the reactor shaft; transverse slats (4, 5, 6, 41, 51, 61; 8, 9, 10, 81, 91, 101) are arranged in front of the side walls (1, 1a) of the reactor shaft (11), in the direction of flow of the absorbent, obliquely relative to said lateral walls (1, 1a); said lateral slats either extend over the entire width of the reactor shaft (11) or are provided only in the area of the guide slats (2) and of the pre-slats (3).
