The system is designed to prevent coastal erosion due to waves. The device consists of rows of hinged flaps (1, 2, 3) which can be swung from a horizontal position to a vertical position during a storm. Each flap consists of a grid with the flaps in each row having the same mesh size. The rows run parallel to the coastline with the mesh size reducing from row to row in the sea to lan direction. Rows of boxes (4) containing sand are placed between adjacent rows of flaps, between the flaps and the coast and on the sea bed beyond the outer row of flaps. USE - Prevention of coastal erosion.
