Healing process monitor for broken bones - uses force measurer, distance measurer for fixture screws and evaluator

The place of the fracture is stabilised with an external fixing frame (2). A force measurement unit is provided, across which the fixing frame and the fracture place are subjected to a pressure. A distance measurement unit (3) is arranged between at least two of the Schanz screws (4) of the external fixing frame. An evaluation unit (5) measures the distance between two of the Schanz screws (4) according to the pressure applied on the fixing frame and the fracture place. ADVANTAGE - Can monitor healing course of complicated bone fractures better than hitherto. Patient does not have to suffer additional loading.
