Limit sensor in a housing (1) with built-in switch (6) has a telescopic plunger (8) that moves through a hole in the housing (1) and operates the switch (6) and is connected to an anti-rotation guard (17) in a non-rotating mounting fixed to the housing. The anti-rotation guard (17) of the plunger-assembly (24) has a through-hole (18) that corresponds to the outside diameter of the plunger (8). The catches (16) of the outside section (9) of the plunger (8) are guided by two opposite guide-slots (19) of the anti-rotation guard (17) and the movement is limited in the axial direction by the height of the anti-rotation guard (17) and the spring (13). The spring (13) is held against plate (21) with a through-hole (23) for the inner part (12) of the plunger (8). The plunger assembly (24) is guided by the groove (4) of the top part of the housing (2) and is prevented from rotating.
