The arrangement contains a rotatable measurement drum (2) mounted statically at a reference point (1) or on the crane. A measurement tape (3) between the crane and the reference point is rolled onto or off the drum as the crane moves towards or away from the reference point. The rotations of the drum or markings on the measurement tape can be detected. A transducer (4) coupled to the drum can be used to generate output signals which are corrected for dia. and temp. variations. ADVANTAGE - Enables simple reliable detection of displacement of a railborne crane.
