Copolymerizates are formed by polymerization of the characteristic monomers (a) 10 to 60 mol. % of monoethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydrides with 4 to 8 carbon atoms, (b) 5 to 60 mol. % of diketens and (c) 0.5 to 60 mol. % of at least one monoethylenically unsaturated C3 to C8 monocarboxylic acid and in the hydrolysed form have K-values of 15 to 120 (determined by the H. Fikentscher method in aqueous solution at 25 DEG C, pH 7 and a concentration of the sodium salt of the copolymerizate of 2 wt. %). The invention also relates to a method for producing the copolymerizates by copolymerization of the monomers of groups (a), (b) and (c) in inert solvents in the presence of polymerization initiators at elevated temperatures and isolation of the copolymerizates or, if necessary, solvolysis. The use of the copolymerizates as additives in powdered or liquid detergents in amounts of 0.1 to 15 wt. % is also described.
