The destruction of toxic and/or explosive objects is carried out in liq., with the resulting parts removed in a sealed container. The object (11) is dismantled on the basis of prior examination and measuring after a structural inspection. The object is transported (8) to the destruction site (4.3) in a plastics container and cut up by high pressure water jet. Pref. the water-filled (9) cutting basin (4.4) contains a destruction unit (4) with a cutter (4.41), and is connected to a neutralising bath (4.5) for water exchange. The object is examined by an x-ray appts. (4.11) on a tipping stool (4.12) to allow tilting as required. Cut components are collected in a basket (4.43) with its own replacement system.
