The speed (n) and/or torque of the pump motor are controlled by a static frequency convertor. The voltage/frequency characteristic is dimensioned in accordance with the phase current (I) and with the desired pumping characteristic. The desired curve of variation of head with flow is achieved by comparison of speed and electric current with a reference curve, from which a current error signal (delta I) is derived and used in a feedback loop to maintain equilibrium. ADVANTAGE - Pumpset can be applied in ranges for which only lateral channel pumps were suitable.
