In prodn. of pitch/bitumen mixts. by mixing molten, opt. plasticised coal tar pitch with petroleum bitumen, or mixts. contg. such bitumen, the coal tar pitch is fed continuously to a prod. stream contg. bitumen, at above 140 deg.C, in a mixing chamber (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - The pitch/bitumen mixt. is for road building. Mixing times are short, and no de-mixing or sedimentation occurs.
