The drive mechanism is for an automation system, particularly the transfer mechanism of a press, whose mechanical drive also provides the transfer movements. The layshaft (1) of the press drive mechanism is coupled to the driven members (7) providing the transfer movements via the planet-carrer (2) of an epicyclic gear train with planetary pinions (3). An annulus (4) has internal and external teeth (10,11) rotating in the housing. A sunwheel (6) has a shaft (8), on which the members are mounted. A driving worm (5) meshes with the external annulus teeth. ADVANTAGE - Allows movement of the transfer mechanism with the press stopped.
