Moving parts made of cast iron eg cam shafts and tappets are cast into rod shapes with a nodular graphite cast iron structure with not less than 300 graphite g/mm2 and remelted in the area of moving contact by a high energy beam and quenched to produce a graphite grain size of max 15 micro m. ADVANTAGE - Parts have good wear-resistance, rigidity and high pin-hole corrosion resistance.
