Coordinate reading device for engineering and surveying - allows two-handed tracing with, mouse and light-pen, each controlling its own cursor

A tablet (4) and a cursor (6) are linked electronically with a reading device (2). A position marked on the tablet via the cursor is turned into an XY signal. An additional cursor (8) is also connected to the reading device. An operator controls the first cursor with one hand and the second cursor with the other hand. The operator moves both cursors on the tablet with both hands. The reading device supplies the coordinate signal for the chart and passes on the corresponding command to a host computer on the basis of the display from both cursors. ADVANTAGE - Avoids earlier problems over one-handed single cursor reading of coordinates, greatly reduces reliance on keyboard and develops use of menu displays or commands.
