Feeding system for strip material, esp. metal strip comprises a magnetic suspension rail guide in which a towing car (10) holds the front of the strip and side wings (13) of the car are inserted between arms (31,32) of a side rail (30) with an active motor part (22) built into the rail arms and permanent magnets (21) built into the car wings. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for discontinuous feeding of strip through a pickling plant. Can be used for thick and thin strip and the productivity is similar to that of a continuous process as the time to fix the front of the strip into the car is reduced.
