The invention relates to a DNA fragment derived from a glutamic acid-producing coryneform bacterium. According to the invention, it contains a gene encoding an enzyme which catalyses a reaction for the synthesis of alpha -ketoglutarate from oxaloacetate and acetyl CoA in the TCA cycle; it also relates to a recombinant DNA containing the DNA fragment as well as to a microorganism containing the recombinant DNA; the accompanying drawing shows the restriction endonuclease cleavage map of a plasmid pAG401. The invention applies in particular to the production of amino acids, nucleic acids and analogs with a high yield. IMAGE
