The invention relates to a device making it possible, by the combination of connecting rods and of off-centring, to obtain two different top dead centres, one completely emptying the combustion chamber, and the other respecting the imposed volumetric ratio, and two different bottom dead centres, one imposed by the unitary cylinder capacity, the other extended as far as atmospheric pressure, or a pressure which is exactly necessary for a supercharging device, the cycle taking place over one revolution of the driveshaft. The device consists of the crank case 6 in which there rotates the shaft 1 carrying a crank journal of axis XX' inclined by an angle alpha about which the orbital connecting rod 2 freely rotates, the connecting rod being connected to the piston 4 which is guided in rotation and in translation in the cylinder liner 5 by means of the auxiliary connecting rod 3. The difference between the top dead centres arises by means of the off-centring of XX', with respect to yy' along ZZ' of the half-stroke necessary for totally emptying the combustion chamber. The difference between the bottom dead centres arises by off-setting the axis 7 by an angle alpha ' which is added to the angle alpha at the intake bottom dead centre and is subtracted at the expansion bottom dead centre.
