A pallet from which products are to be picked up is indexed automatically by a signal lamp 10 which lights up just above it. Simultaneously, the quantity of products to be picked up is displayed on the module 4 placed on the trolley of the collecting device. Before carrying on with the pickups, the microcomputer, carried by the trolley and which controls the system, automatically checks the stop position chosen by the collecting device. The dialog between the microcomputer of the trolley and the electronic equipment fixed to the pallet rack takes place with transmission by coded infrared radiation. The microcomputer of the trolley receives its instructions and gives an account of the operations carried out with the aid of a removable non-volatile memory 2 which keeps the information which it contains by virtue of a built-in lithium battery. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for the preparation of orders in depots with pallets. IMAGE
