The invention relates to a method and a device for pairing at least two flexible layers, in particular a back panel and a front panel of an article such as a T-shirt. This process consists in forming a stack of each type of layers and in placing these stacks on two plates 2, 3, to grasp, along a line, at least one layer of each stack by means of two gripping assemblies 7, 8 moving above the plates 2, 3, between a low position for gripping the layers and a high position where the gripped layers are suspended above the plates, to move a depositing member 15 above the plates 2, 3, along a trajectory where this member comes into contact with the gripped layers by sliding along the latter to an intermediate position of their height and, finally, actuating the gripping assemblies 7, 8 so as to release the layers on the depositing member 15.
