The present invention relates to a hammer-type crusher for shredding metal objects, essentially comprised of hammers (1) mounted on a driving drum (2) which is arranged within a crushing housing (3) provided with lower and upper screening walls (4, 5), said housing (3) being connected to a supply device (6) having crusher drums (7, 8) and an introduction ramp (9). The crusher is characterized in that the drum (2) which drives the hammers (8) is driven in both rotation directions, in that the upper screening wall (5) is interchangeable and movable above the crushing housing (3), in that the walls of the crushing housing (3) are provided with interchangeable armour plates (10) and in that the crusher drums (7, 8) of the supply device (6) are continuously adjustable in their mutual position in relation to the introduction ramp (9).
