The invention relates to a method and device for measuring the angle of the screw (helix) of a cutting tool. The device is characterised in that it comprises, on a preadjustment bench 4, a tool holder spindle 2 which can rotate about its axis X-X'; a contact finger 9 mounted on the preadjustment bench 4; means for measuring the length of displacement of the said contact finger 9 parallel to the axis X-X' of the tool 1 and for measuring the angle of rotation of the said spindle 2, between two points where this finger 9 is in contact with the screw (helix) H of the tool 1; and means 6 for calculating the angle phi of this screw (helix) H from the said angle of rotation and from the said length of displacement.
