This device 1 comprises a support 2 onto which the porous material 5 to be studied is intended to be applied, the said support 2 carrying electrodes 3 arranged so as to pass through the said porous material 5 when the latter is in place on the said support 2, the electrodes 3 being connected to a conductimeter, with which are associated means for processing the signals emitted when a voltage is applied to the terminals of the electrodes 3, and means for displaying the results. According to the invention, the electrodes 3 are arranged in pairs and are connected to the conductimeter in order to allow a local measurement, at each of these pairs of electrodes 3, 3, of the conductivity of the solute conveyed on the absorbent material 5 at a given point or a given region, and migrating in its bulk and/or at its surface.
