A method for the treatment of hyperproliferative benign or malignant lesions in the large intestinal epithelium is provided.P P The method comprises administering the tripeptide L- pyroglutamyl-L- histidyl-glycine of the formula: ##STR1## in which the pyroglutamyl and histidyl moieties are of the L-configuration.
