PURPOSE: To facilitate positioning a sensor for detecting the presence and absence of steam vented from a reservoir, by holding a body with mounting means to expose it to steam flowing through a vent opening, and isolating the mounting means from the reservoir. CONSTITUTION: A steam sensor assembly 50 for detecting the start of boiling of water in a reservoir 30 is provided at an end of a duct 47, a receiving reservoir of an excessive flow switching assembly 48 or the upper portion of a container. In this case, the excessive flow water pipe or duct functions also as means for isolating the steam from the interior of the reservoir. A positioning member 51 for this assembly is formed of a high temperature plastic or other materials of comparatively low heat conductivity, and is disposed on a tube or the duct 47 so that a thermistor is located in a channel of steam discharged from the reservoir 30 through the duct 47. As a result, the sensor can be positioned easily.
