CODED AND DECODED PIXELS OF HIGH DEFINITION IMAGE USING LOW DEFINITION REPLICA AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To make a prediction reference independent of an image reduction reference by using a comprehensive prediction reference to reconstruct typically predictable corresponding low-resolution pixels into high-resolution pixels. CONSTITUTION: A high-resolution pixel is supplied to a transmitter 102 from an image source 101, and a decomposition processor 106-1 generates a low- resolution replica 11 of a high-resolution image. As the result, the high-resolution image 10 is decomposed to the low-resolution replica 11, consisting of M1 rows and N1 columns, auxiliary information S11, and an exception indicating signal E1. A reconstituting processor 113-3 reconstitutes the image into a 'high'- resolution image 12, in response to the decoded pixel information for a fundamental low-resolution replica 13, encoded auxiliary information S13, and encoded exception information E3.
